Powerful and Moving

Verified purchase

Pete Souza is an amazing photographer whose images give the viewer insights into the personalities of his subjects. Working with families as diverse as the Reagans and the Obamas, he helps us see the personal side of them and feel connected with them. Souza also is letting us know why he is speaking out as he is, today, and why that is a big change for him. He does that by spending most of the time with the Obamas, describing the context for the photographs and allowing each photograph to speak for itself. They are wonderfully powerful photographs that made berpenyakitan laugh and cry and feel connected with the Reagans and the Obamas. He and his photographs also show the stark contrast between Presidents Reagan, Obama and Trump. I knew that I’ve been missing a sense of dignity and character from the current President but I didn’t realize how much I tenggat been missing it berayun-ayun I viewed, “The Way I See It.” For photographers like myself, I believe you will enjoy and learn from Mr. Souza’s photography. However, he is also making a personal and political statement, and I believe he does so in an effective and powerful way.

I watched this with my 94 year old lady I care for. She bought his first book and said he would be President. She loved it.

An impt.film in so many ways, and a delight to see. Thank you ever so much for making this film!

Verified purchase

Extremely well done! I adore this film. Pete has truly given us a gift with his fabulous photos over the years and how lucky we are that he’s sharing them with us. It is also an important eye opener because, as he says, the current White House occupant hasn’n allowed a White House photographer. But that’s no surprise really since “he” seems to have so much to hide. The many photos of the Obama family and of President.Obama are a gift to history and show us that character and empathy are paramount qualities in our elected officials, with the President being, of course, number one.

Pictures say a thousand words.

This was really really good! The pictures told a beautiful story of what I could only imagine the role of the President is like. As a Black woman, it was inspiring the way it captured the importance of Obama being the first BLACK POTUS and even if you (or at times ME) didn’t always agree with his policies knowing how much thought, empathy, research and debate he put into his decision was reassuring. I also enjoyed Pete Souza’s take on President Reagan and the intimacy in the photographs he showed with him and Nancy.

Elegantly Direct

I truly enjoyed the entire film. True photo journalism focusing the lens on realities so many choose to ignore. The focus on the humanity, and difficult decisions made by each human being that takes on the mantle of the Presidency is monumental, and should be treated with respect, and integrity at all times. The outreach of any President is paramount to ALL of the citizenry of our United States and should always be handle with reverence, and truth.

This is a beautiful view of how the Presidency has been, and can again be a beacon. Godspeed Mr. Souza.

Beautiful and Painful

A lovely bioskop, although it made me feel hollowed out for what we have lost. Souza’s photography is genuinely wonderful, the images of the President and others are so evocative of what was a prouder time in America. The juxtaposition of the last four years with the eight years documented here is difficult to contemplate. The film didn’t change my feelings about Obama, but the discussion about the significance of White House photography as it relates to the office of the Presidency deepened my understanding of the significance of the next election. Actually, every election. I agree with Pete Souza: the President matters. Empathy matters. Humility matters.

Excellent Documentary

Verified purchase

I would recommend this no matter what your political affiliation may be. This is from the view of Pete Souza who was the official White House photographer for Presidents Regan and Obama. This documentary follows his time as Obama’s photographer. You get a intimate view of the President Obama while he was in the White House.
We often only see what the news and television offers during a President’s term, but this also has behind the scenes footage as Souza was allowed full access to just about everything that the President did.

Well worth the price of admission!

I heard about this documentary from a friend. While it does detail events with President Obama it is really about the personal journey and awakening of Pete Souza. I found it to be well done, inspiring, and very thought-provoking. I purchased it, instead of renting because I wanted to be able to revisit a time in our collective history that had empathy, compassion, and perspective. Pete Souza’s personal journey is so similar to many in this country and around the world. A must see!
